The Authority of the People

In the first volume of Gaddafi's Green Book trilogy, he outlined an understanding of Democracy that focused on power relations in society, while critiquing Western assumptions about Democracy that revolve around representational politics.


In a society, multiple classes may coexist. Mao spoke about the fact that different classes and groups within a society may have different interests, and the interests may conflict. He says that conflicts that exist among the people are very different from the conflict that exists between 2 enemies, and must therefore be treated differently.

Nowadays, many persons mistakenly refer to Liberal Democracy as "Democracy" - while being unable to differentiate Liberalism from Democracy. Many tenets of Liberalism have been mistakenly thought of as tenets of Democracy.
